Danny Willett had a fantastic 2013 British Open championship finishing in tied 15
th place only 9 shots off eventual winner and fellow American
golf scholarship recipient, Phil Mickelson.
Understanding the importance of education, Danny signed to
FirstPoint USA in 2005 and was placed at the impressive
Jacksonville State University. While studying towards his degree, playing golf in
Jacksonville State University's fantastic facilities, he was
Ohio Valley Conference freshman of the year. He also won medal honours in 2007 at the
OVC championship and was
all-conference award winner and
all-tournament team member in both 2006 and 2007.
After graduation Danny turned professional in 2008 joining the
European Tour and soon started moving up the world rankings. He made the cut at the PGA Championship in 2010 and won his first
European Tour tournament, the BMW International Open, in 2012. The highlight of his career so far has to be The Open Championship this past weekend. On the unforgiving
Muirfield course, four rounds of 75, 72, 72, and 71, gave Danny an overall score of 6 over par. He picked up a cheque of £62,250 for his efforts.
